Older PC? Expect a decrease in performance after CPU flaw patch, Microsoft warns

Microsoft said on Tuesday the patches released to guard against the Meltdown and Spectre security threats slowed down some personal computers and servers, with systems running on older Intel processors seeing a noticeable decrease in performance.

The company expects most users with PCs made during or prior to 2015 running operating systems older than Windows 10 to notice a decrease in system performance.

HP Notebook Laptop Battery Safety Recall

In cooperation with various government regulatory agencies HP has announced a worldwide voluntary recall and replacement program for certain notebook computer and mobile workstation batteries. The potentially affected batteries were shipped with specific HP notebook computers and mobile workstations sold worldwide from December 2015 through December 2017. These batteries were also sold as accessories or provided as replacements through HP or an authorized Service Provider.
